even in a city away from home, we strive to find those places that make us feel good, eat well and explore. the kind of list you want to share with others. go there we say.

. . . . . . LAS VEGAS . . . . . .

Peppermill Restaurant
We hear either Penn or Teller (can't ever remember which is which) hangs out here late night after the show. We love the food, waitresses, uniforms, lights - well, just everything! You should order the fruit plate, but not because it is good for you. 2985 Las Vegas Blvd.

The Barbary Coast Casino
If we are in LV you will find us staying at the Barbary Coast. A little bit old school and a little bit dark, the Barbary Coast has everything we need: centrally located (meaning right across from the Bellagio poker room), small (meaning you can reach your room without walking for 20 minutes), and trendy (their after hours nightclub draws all the skank you would ever need).

. . . . . . LOS ANGELES . . . . . .

Museum of Jurassic Technology
I don't know how to explain this place. It won't be what you think and you will leave not knowing what to think. 9341 Venice Boulevard.

Chado Tea House
My boyfriend is addicted to high tea, in a zealous way that makes me uncomfortable. But because of his addiction we have been to every tea house from coast to coast. Chado is our favorite because it has a million kinds of tea, is very unassuming, and affordable. 8422 1/2 West 3rd Street.

Roni's Diner
Priceline placed us at the Beverly Hills Hilton for 50 bucks. Although we assume it is only because it was being remodeled. Steps away, is Roni's Diner. This is a small, 15 seat diner, counter service with food made when you order. It is like a misplaced slice of New York in Beverly Hills. 9911 Santa Monica Blvd.

Frida
Yum. Tres Leches Cake. 236 S. Beverly Drive.

Breech
Breech kicks every other band's ass. If they are playing when you are in LA or anywhere else for that matter - Go.

Palms Thai
Thai food and an Elvis impersonator. What else do you need? 5273 Hollywood Blvd.

. . . . . . CHICAGO . . . . . .

Beans and Bagels
They have been supplying my caffeine, bagel, sandwich, snack, news, friendship, and art fix for the past 12 years. 1812 West Montrose.

Caro Mio
Italian food in a wonderfully homey and welcoming environment. The perfect neighborhood restaurant. Since they started delivery service they know our address by heart but don't judge them by their web site. 1827 West Wilson.

Green Zebra
Okay, yes they have had way too much hype recently. But since they actually treat vegetarians like real people and don't have a single portabello mushroom or piece of tofu on their menu, I am still in love. 1460 West Chicago Ave.

Cupcakes
Cupcakes have always been my own little bit of heaven. Portable little cakes that fit in you hand - ideal! The cupcake cafe has them in spades. 613 West Briar Place

. . . . . . NEW YORK . . . . . .

Pommes Frites
If you are going to do one thing and do it well, why not make that thing French Fries. 123 2nd Ave.

Teany
This tiny tea shop in Soho (owned by Moby) has an extraordinary selection of teas. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. I like it when a full plate of tiny (teany) sandwiches arrives at my table. 90 Rivington Street.
